I'm also with State Farm and had a claim years ago but was paid off quickly. Maybe it depends on your insurance agent.
Did you have a loan balance that had to be cleared also?
Another key point is to not accept the payoff value that they present to you 1st pass, especially if you have documentation regarding low mileage, etc.

a remaining balance on the stolen vehicle which had to paid out..My bone of contention was why they could not issue 2 cheques...the amount owing on the stolen vehicle and the remaining for me.....At the end of it all, 41 days later, l was on the hook for 11 days of rental which cost me $365.00 bucks...To be honest, the settlement cheque should not have taken 30 days to get to me....But of course Mr.Rodrigues, we have to try to recover your vehicle......which my reply was, have you starting looking in Russia yet ????? Oh well, the ordeal is over....l will post some pic's of my new ride soon...Thanks for allowing me to vent ........

Hey "C", at least your ordeal is over. Don't park your ride in that shop again. Will wait for pics of your new ride. And I won't stay overnight in Guelph. Thanks
I do not know what they sent you for your car, but my brother's insurance company sent him two cheques in two seperate envelopes for the total of $18,000. There really is no excuse for such stupidity.
