We have about 1,000 miles on our new 2008 ML320 CDI and have noticed that it uses downshifting to assist in braking. It is a neat feature, took a little to get used to and we like it. We have to be careful when we use our other vehicles to remember they don't have this feature.
So are you saying that when I apply the breaks, the vehicle downshifts? I hadn't felt the shift, but I'll admit the transmission is incredibly smooth and the car doesn't let much if any engine noise in.
Does anyone know what criteria is for down shifting. Is it under heavy extended breaking or any breaking?
