What do you think of the GLK ?

I saw the 2 variants in the current Star issue, but was disappointed that the GLK was not shown at the NY Auto Show. I could not get an answer as to why they were not.
And although THE STAR atricle mentioned them being equipted with the 4 cyl CDI, I was tols that the first wave of GLK's would be 6 cly gas engines.
Too bad.

I think it's worth considering. However, it's a smaller CUV that MBz' competition for the X3s and the like. I haven't seen a release date yet. I suggest that you visit the GLK forum for additional information / threads.

I like it, at least based on the pics and vids I've seen so far.

I'm actually considering it for purchase in a couple of years just before the warranty runs out on my ML. If the construction and quality is as good as the new C-class, that will be an advantage over the ML. I like the console-mounted shifter, shorter length, OEM 20" wheels, lower weight for potentially better performance and economy with the V6 gas engines.

Once they have been out for awhile and i can get some feedback I will likely buy one. I am looking forward to seeing one in person as pictures just don't tell the whole story

IMHO X3 is more ugly, Z4 and 7 series are really ugly. BMW knows how to make them ugly.

The GLK design is more sporty. To me, the X3 is like a box with an elongated front; really ugly for this Austrian made BMW. Have you seen the 1 Series? Another ugly design IMHO. I guess, different people have different perspectives and preferences.

GLK should have a wider track. I sure would like to see one live.

I haven't seen a 1 Series in the flesh yet. Pics look pretty bland so far. It's always harder to style a short/tall car and make it look good.

I plan on getting the GLK CDI in two years, when my wife's X3 lease is up.

MB has lost the organic shape it once had and traded it in for a more linear, chiseled look... which I'm just not into. imho
