i'v purchased a pre-owned 06 ML350 6 months ago and it had 22 000km. Now it has 45 000km. The problem now is my transmission on the ML is screwing up. Recently i couldn't shift it to drive, neutral and reverse. I mean, my ML only has 45 000km on it, im sure it still has transmisson/engine warranty on it right? can someone please help me and tell me what i should do. My plans is to take it back to the dealer. Would they most likely offer a brand new transmission swap? would it be worth it for me or should i be asking for more than a simple transmission swap? MY ML ONLY HAS 45 000KM!!! It's like NEW and im already having this transmission problem, what if in the future it happens again and warranty is no longer covered, than im screwed....someone please help....any advices would be appreciated.
Looks to me that the transmission problem is minor, like possibly just a bad solinoid that shifts into the different modes. That I believe is external to the transmission. As far as warranty is concerned I am not aware of the warranty on a new MB in your part of the world as they differ from market to market. If its still within the calender and mileage limits of the original warranty you should be covered.
Calm down.
First of all, "like new" is equivalent to used. There is no implicit
guarantee that it is going to be like a new car.
Second, a 2006 ML still has factory warranty. Have the dealer fix it.
In the long run, things are going to break but in general , you have
bought a safe and relatively fun to drive vehicle.

Ditto to Sosh regarding your location. It didn't occur to me that you are not in the USA, but wherever you are the chances are good that your car still has a factory warranty so I stand by my answer on your other thread.
thanks to all the reply so far,
MUSIKMANN, what can the MB regional rep do for me? better yet, what is that?
Do u guys think by just gettin them to change the transmission is good enough alrady or i should get them to do more?
For ML350, warranty 4 year/50,000 miles and NOT-Transferrable.
The used car dealer can fix your tranny (make it run again) and it depends on the agreement between you and that dealer. Let's say AS IS (no luck) or 6-month/ 12,000 miles.....whatever.
I doubt that you can make them do more, except fixing (solenoid replacing may be, tranny change would be their last resort)
Good luck.
You're talking about needing a new transmisison, and you haven't even had the issue diagnosed yet!
That's like saying "Oh, I have a pain in my chest - I better get to the Doctor so he can fit me up with a pacemaker".
My advice - go and get the thing diagnosed. Find out what the ACTUAL problem is.
I am a mechanic by trade, and one thing I know to be true - most people who don't know much about mechanicals over-complicate the most trivia things. I would venture to suggest that this will be something very simple - sounds like others have suggested - a faulty solenoid in the selector mechanism.
first off if your car doesnt shift to drive, park or neutral, the trans isnt the issue. you have on the side of the trans whats called an ISM (intelligent servo motor) which is sent a signal from your shifter on the steering column to shift the trans. when that fails, you cant shift out of park and usually get the warning on the cluster that says drive to workshop without changing gears. the ism connects to a shaft on the side of the trans and will turn a shaft that moves a valve in the valve body (the valve is a sensor that detects what gear your in). only other possible causes is the sensor in the valve body is bad and you need a new valve body or you arent pressing the brake pedal hard enough which wont allow you to shift out of park. the pedal requires a good amount of pressure. as far as trans issues, you cant just walk into the dealer and request a new trans. on the newer cars, replacing a trans is a process and requires authorization from mercedes. and we cant just expect to get one by asking. alot of diagnostics has to be done first and all other options exhausted before asking for a trans. i have replaced maybe 5 trannies on the 722.9 vehicles. one was on a ml that had been in the shop over 6 times with tranny issues and the car was bought back. one was on an e class that was slipping. one on a s class that was slipping and recently on a brand new sl where the car was stalling due to the converter coming apart (had excessive metal in the pan).
