After I investigated with MB they told me that due to legal issues (kids getting hurt, or concerns of them getting hurt) they had removed the feature in 2007 going forward. Something to do with no sensor to stop the seats when they hit something hard (like the garage doors have). I tried to get them to program it back in mine as I purchased off a 2006 spec, and got a 2007 model year and they would not do it;
MB-SV
You may be right, but it also works wonders for really tall people so you dont hit your head on the roof line after your short wife drives it...
and l like it.............gimmicky maybe.....but l use it everyday...

Yep, I was told the same thing as well, about legality issues. They can't reflash the system as if it was a previous model year because that option doesn't even exist in the system.
Moreover, they no longer have control (or even viewing access!) over the individual listing of options that each car can be equipped with. When they hook the computer up to the car, it downloads the profile from the MB HQ's mainframe which then tells them what configuration that vehicle has from the factory.

I don't think it's gimicky at all. Definitely quite useful. Even with the setting set to seat + steering, you can always override the seat moving back by just hitting the button.
I do know that in at least the S-Class if your driving position is far back enough, it will not move further back even with the setting set to seat + steering.

yes, you could program the 3rd memory location to move the wheel up, and seat back; the issue is you have to press and hold the memory location button while it moves to the setting;
In my Infinity I have the easy exit, and it moves back the seat, and the wheel up, when I come back and hit the unlock, it moves it to the memory location programed based on what remote (keyless go) I use for it; it happens very fast before I even the door if I'm few steps away; This is what I was expecting from the MB, but they do do it like that;
