How do you like the diesel? I have an Infiniti FX45, and I'm used to V8 muscle. But recently, I've been more open minded to different vehicles. Right now I'm interested in purchasing the ML550. But I came across this thread in a google search and thought I'd ask your thoughts. Did you drive different models of the ML before you made your decision?

I also purchased a diesel ML320 CDI and I had driven both the ML350, and the ML500 before making the decision to buy a Diesel; which I did without even test driving a ML320 CDI as they didn't even make them when I made my purchase decision; I did however drive a E class CDI and loved the power;
There is a small almost insignificant lag before the turbo starts from a stand still; however the power of the CDI for the heavy SUV makes a huge difference;
I was VERY surprised at how much better it felt than an ML350; It does feel very similar to the ML500 to me (maybe others can comment)
I have no regrets about the CDI over the Gas; and thats without taking into account the fuel savings.
I also drive the VW and their 8 Cylinder was no match. I drove the BMW X5 and actually really liked it but still no regrets on the CDI version of the ML;
The only one I didn't drive, that I wish had has was the Volvo - not sure if I'm missing anything there - but would have been better to drive it first;
there is two guys I know locally that own the CDI version also, and have nothing but rave reviews also; one was a die hard against diesel engines (until he drove mine!)
How do you get the airmatic to go lower? Some new control module like an ECU upgrade for the suspension controller?
iv installed rentech kits in these to get them to lower and it never works right, i have better luck lowering them by corrupting the values i enter when i calibrate the level, best bet it to either make a friend at the dealer or find and independent shop, usually get an inch and a half lower with out a aftermarket control unit, probably charge an hour or so, cheaper than a $350 lowering module that freaks the computer out,

Lvbenztech - You are a MB tech in Vegas, sounds like fun gig. I do appreciate your valuable/educated feedback on threads regarding the many technical issues that come up here.

Love that ML!! I'm highly considering the CDI for the gas mileage and the overall style of this Benz. And an SUV in general because I'm a very tall individual. I noticed that there were comments that you have made modifications to your ML. What mods were done exactly? Trying to get an idea of what is stock and standard since the closet MB dealer is nearly 100 miles from my area.
