could be like something like a tree fell on the car and cracked the windshield when the previous owner owned it and had it replaced without contacting insurance, to avoid premiums, and put some after market windshield, i'd have it replaced with the original!

Windshields break all the time. Just this evening, I was sitting at a stoplight beside a 2007 ML 350 and saw it had a big crack in its windshield running from top to bottom. An aftermarket windshield is not necessarily a bad thing to have, as long as it is of appropriate quality and installed correctly. It sounds like yours is probably not installed correctly and if you can't get the original installer to help, then you will be having it redone and I'm afraid warranty won't help.

Windshields are all the same, unless the one installed is of a cheaper variant (laminated vs tempered etc...) Even the factory itself switches suppliers depending on contracts/supply/costs.....

so maybe yours has missing clips??? poorly installed??? if its professionally installed, it wont affect your car's performance

there have been some quality issues with some of the newer imported aftermarket glass brands coming out of china. Usually things like small optical distortions or tolerance issues. Its a common issue that the vehicle owner isnt usually thinking about when they are choosing the $2200 oem vs $1000 aftermarket option.

That being said, this still sounds like an installation issue: *all* windshields have a small variation in dimensions due to manufacturing differences and temperature variations. The vehicle body is the same with the addition of slight dimensional changes as the vehicle body flexes while moving. A butyl rubber sealent is applied around the front and back of the windshield as it is installed to both seal and act as a flexible gasket but if it is not done correctly you will get the creaking issue.

Take the vehicle to a reputable glass place and have them reseal it and the creaking should go away.

First, there is no reason to use profanity in you postings.
Second, You don't say if the windshield was causing the noise.
Third, As most everyone else has posted, windshields are replaced all the time. I would guess if the rest of the car is in primo condition the last owner had the windshield replaced by a qualified installer. Don't worry about it, but get the noise fixed. Good Luck!

Regarding profanity, use *'s with the f word, for example f***, otherwise bfd.

My CPO 06 ML had a new windshield installed a few days before delivery, looks like an OEM windshield with a Mercedes logo. No problems so far (I took delivery on 11/2).

There is absolutly no need whatsoever for any profanity on this forum, abbreviated to get past the filters or not. If you feel you must use this do it with your low class street thugs but not here.

Don't know any low class street thugs personally, maybe you can introduce us to some. But I do wish the filter worked better on the first post of this thread, which is something we can agree on for sure.
