anybody installed aftermarket exhaust tips??? the square ones sold online for the ML?

I'll try to get the scoop from an experienced Parts Manager at my dealership this week. In the accessory booklet is a picture of AMG chrome tips, but no part number listed.

Dealer called me today. They still can't figure out the part numbers for the AMG tips.

The square tips are $137 each.

I looked at the 08 on display with these tips, looks like the old 06 tips will have to be cut off first.

Bought the square stainless 08 ML tips last night. Had the old ones cutoff and new ones welded on today for $30 at my local muffler shop. Looks great on my 06 ML350.

did you get the standard square tips, and not the Edition10/GL550 tips?

MBSV, any insights on the welding process (how to align etc...)???? Was the old oval tip "sawed off" or cut with a welding torch? What kind of welding procedure was used? My local muffler shop doesnt seem to know about newer muffler materials....

Consider another muffler shop. My muffler guy was very experienced. He used an electric saw to cutoff old tips (he said they were also stainless steel). He took a few measurements and his eyesight to align the new tips and welded them on. Looks great.
