my cd changer does not retract permanently, it seems to be gravity based, it automatically goes down when nothing is stored beneath it, or when nobody is holding it upwards......

is mine broken?

Mmmm...., should kinda click and hold in up position.

I assume you are using your hand to raise the changer, as per manual.

dont wanna jack ur thread here, but for some reason if i play any CD on my cd changer, it slightly fades in and out all the time, and the in dash skips! any one had this issue?

Yup, i have to hold the cd changer otherwise it falls down again, must be a broken lock mechanism.

Mine doesnt skip, it works flawlessly, first time i used it yesterday after a year of ownership.

it does this even if it's a brand new CD and i open the package before i stick it in, and only the changer fades in an out, i'm sure ur lock mechanism is failing or the latch on the changer itself is busted! I can tell ur not much into music LOL!!!
