lt has been quite cold up here in my neck of the woods, 1 and 2 Celsuis, when l have been coming out of work at 3 in the morning...The issue is this, l start the vehicle , l wait for the rpm's to stabilize, as l always do, and when l'm pulllin away, l have this ridiculous rapping sound coming from the passenger rear quarter panel.....( the fueling side of the ML).lt has happened for the last 2 nights, when it has been extremely cold....This has never happened before, in the warmer weather....The sound is very unusual, it lasts for about 5 seconds, but it is a rap, rap rap sound....l wish l could describe it better, but l've never heard anything like this before...Any TSB's on rear body noises or rear suspension issue's...l'm going in on Friday to the dealership, to have it looked at, as well as the larger rear seat section that folds down(the 60 side), will not go back up...This had been the first time l had used it, and l think, the seatbelt in the middle seat section is jammed, not allowing the seat to fold up ?????? Further more, what is the issue with the CD changer always skipping..l have 6 store bought CD's in the changer, and l don't even have to go over a pothole to make the music skip ????? Help me out here folks ??????

My CD Changer works great so I'd have to guess that yours needs replaced. I have not had any odd noises but the temp hasn't gotted that cold down here. My wife did have issues with the low tire pressure warning the other morning which was due to the cold weather dropping the tire pressure below minimums. Check to see if some critter has decided to sleep up under your vehicle. Maybe when you leave for work you are waking it up. Seriously though if it happens every morning I would take a look at the undercarriage, CV joints, tire pressure, etc., to see if something is loose or out of place. Good Luck!
Yes. Last winter was brutal for us in CO (well, more like we're back to the winters we SHOULD have instead of the mild ones we've had for the last 5-6 years). Anyway, there was a two week stretch where the temps did not break 2-3F with LOTS of snow. I had some very odd clunking noises. Could not figure it out (my ML sits outside...so it never got a chance to thaw).
No abnormalities noticed with the CV boots, drive train, suspension, etc, etc. No big chunks of ice or anything...only happened in the cold, while vehicle was warm and from a cold start.
fyi - I recently purchased a CPO 06 ML 350 and had the following experiences:
1. Seat belt light and warning came on during a cold morning (50 degrees F), so I buckled the belt on empty passenger seat and that stopped it. Later I unbuckled the belt and the problem never came back.
2. Sometimes I'm getting the warning that the brake light bulbs are out, and backup brake lights are working (both left and right side). I'll get some spare bulbs this weekend.
If you know anything about these bugs, please let me know.
