ADVISE PLS. - ML 500

Hi Guys:

I need an advise from you.

My Brother has a 2002 ML-500 Sport and his little grandson accidentaly smashed a cellular phone into the LCD Radio Panel. You can imagine, the entire LCD is into pieces. How can he buy ONLY the front LCD panel that fix into the Radio unit? How much would it cost?

I really appreciate any suggestions to resolve this problem...

The ML forum may be better for this, however he might want to contact Becker America.

I know that the front panel of the radio on my '96 unplugs from the chassis, so it could conceivably be replaced. I don't think you'll find the part from anyone but Becker, and you may have to send the chassis in.

I already posted in the ML forum, but, just in case someone can advise from here. I contacted Becker via Internet, but they are not the ones for this model. So, thanks again for your assistance.

Do not believe that Becker makes the MCS but Alpine does. If you send the unit to them it may be able to be repaired and of course you also have the option of replacing it with a new or used unit. An MB dealer should be able to help you by removing the unit and sending it in for repair.

Depending on how much a new unit will cost and how much it costs to repair this unit, you may want to think about purchasing an aftermarket head unit. You can also call a salvage yard to see how much a pulled unit will cost. There are several lsited on eBay you can try.

Thanks, Arbittan. After checking various sites including Alpine (this is the one using), no one so far sells the panel only. I am checking ebay for price. The entire unit is for sale at MB dealers for $3,000.00.

Any other advise, is always welcome.
