I guess the best time to buy would be at the end of the model year? When do the '08s appear at the dealer?

o8' ml350 is not gonna be any different the only one changing is the ml500 to the ml550.

Yup. Spent $4k+ in repairs in '06, $3k so far in '07 ...
Trying to remember the time of year when the dealer receives the new year model.

...OUCH! Thats a good sum for downpayment on a new one + trade-in value of old one. Or are you keeping the old one for towing the bike? I know I was lagging behind yours but i'm quickly creeping up my mileage (now 65K after 5 yrs on my 2003 ML350).

No, no bike :-(

Yours is just getting broke in! I drive about 30k/yr, so I expect a certain repair cost. But, its getting out of hand.

When the W164 first came out, I thought the old ladder frame would be better, but it seems the W164 is doing well in crash tests! I'm sure the ride is better. Also, from scanning the forums, I don't see any significant issues pointing to bad engineering, other than possibly some transmission issues.

As to the thread, timing is everything! ;-)
