I can understand why first generation MLs [W163s] were called trucks [because they were built on a truck chasis]. But I don't understand why many continue to call W164s "trucks" given the chasis change.
Senator, I knew my W163 ML320 well; it was a friend of mine. But I can tell you my W164 ML350 is no W163 ML320 [and that's a good thing].
I personally find the reference to "truck" to be degrading. By no stretch of the imagination is the current W164 a truck. So let's start calling it what it really is - even with the problems noted on this site, IMHO it's the best production model vehicle ever manufacturered [after all, this is a W164 forum isn't it?].

It's built by the Mercedes-Benz Truck Division.
Read your Service and Warranty Information 2007 Trucks booklet. It starts out "Dear Mercedes-Benz Truck Owner".
The admittedly arbitrary distinction I developed as I shopped for a new SUV this year: if it can tow my other car ('85 300ZX) during my frequent military moves, it's a truck; if it can't (Lexus RX, Highlander, etc), it's a car. My new ML is a mighty fine truck!
I got a solution to all this hubbub since it is a light truck, yet is does not in any way shape or size look like a truck lets call it a "SLEEK TRUCK."
