Great news! The iPhone works with the MB bluetooth system perfectly and then some...

Well at least it works perfectly with the MHI Bluetooth interface module (part# B6 787 5878) in my ML63.

The phone pairs instantly with the car every time I get in and start up, and even the iPhone's contact list is fully uploaded. Even voice commands to dial contacts that I've trained it for works. I'm happy to report that bluetooth functionality works flawlessly and even the reception is better than my previous phone (Motorola PEBL) when I keep it in my pocket.

I also have the factory iPod interface in my ML and when I plug the iPhone to that cable, it works exactly like my regular iPod nano and allows selection of songs/playlists/etc from the steering wheel controls and displays song info on the in-dash multifunction display. It charges my iPhone like it does my iPod as well. Sweet! I don't even have to buy a car charger for my new phone. The only very minor issue is that when I plug the iPhone in to the MB iPod interface, the iPhone pops up a message about how I've just connected an "unapproved accessory" and asked me if I wanted to set the iPhone to "airplane mode" to avoid possible radio interference. I just ignore this and the iPhone continues to function as a phone and an iPod just fine without any apparent audio interference.

To my surprise, when I receive a call on the iPhone while I'm playing music from it as connected via the interface, both ends actually transition into the phone call without a hitch: the MB COMAND system mutes the radio, activates the bluetooth connection with the iPhone, and in turn, the iPhone pauses the song it was currently playing and goes into phone mode. Once I'm finished with my call, the COMAND automatically switches back to the iPod interface and the iPhone continues playing the song from where it left off. Neither system missed a beat. Dual functionality and dual interface between one car and one handheld device with seamless switching of functions. Effing brilliant! I'm actually shocked by how well it works.

I wish I could say the same for my Audi. Although I can pair the iPhone just fine with the RS4, the connection is mysteriously inconsistent. Perhaps if Steve Jobs drove an Audi this wouldn't be the case

Masmole, I have 07' CLS550, and i just got the iPhone. I have the Bluetooth interface module (part# B6 787 5878) installed. However, having a real hard time pairing the two. It tries to find the phone and after about 30 secs it does, then drops the connection!

Basically, on the iPhone, where do you see the opportunity to enter the passkey. I cant seem to see the MB COMMAND CENTER show up, like the instructions indicate.

PLEASE HELP! or any similar experiences would be greatly appreciated to shed some light!

Thks

iphone not working as well...

My iphone links well and works well, until I try to disconnect the bluetooth connection. The phone doesn't seem to know that is has been disconnected, so I have to manually turn off the bluetooth connection in my settings menu on the phone. It's a pain, so I just have not been using that capability. 2007 ML 320 CDI. Hopefully a future update will solve this?

sandman,
Well firstly, you have to turn on bluetooth on the iPhone. From the iPhone's 'home' menu, choose SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> BLUETOOTH, then slide 'bluetooth' to the 'ON' position. Then you'll need to hold down the MHI Bluetooth module's "star" button for a couple of seconds which will initiate the pairing process. Then from the same window you were on on the iPhone, "MB PhoneSystem" should immediately show up under 'devices' and you pair that by entering a passkey once prompted. The passkey is a 5-digit number supplied with the little instruction manual of quick reference card that came with your car or MHI bluetooth module. Once you pair it once, you don't need to pair it again in the future as the passkey is remembered by the iPhone unless you manually delete it. Hope that helps.

hmmm... that's strange. I don't seem to have that problem. The only issue I have sometimes is that my gf's Moto KRZR will sometimes beat my iPhone to the punch when pairing with the car (I guess the iPhone is a bit slow or has weaker bluetooth signal). So I always have to remind her to turn off her phone's bluetooth when we are in the car together. Otherwise, no pairing or unpairing problems in and away from the car.

I am having the exact same issue as hotsauce1208. Everytime I start the ML I have to turn off the bluetooth on the iphone and then turn it back on. I wish it would disconnect and reconnect automatically like my Razr and BB do. I think it is defintely and issue with the Iphone because it always says it is paired and I am getting the spinning wait signal on the bluetooth screen.
