my ML comes with MBTex, from what i know, the center portion is real leather, and the side bolsters is MBTex vinyl??.... i can hardly distinguish the transition between both materials.
so where exactly is the mbtex, and where is the leather?
how do we clean this mbtex vinyl???? my past mbs all had leather...so i just used leather conditioner....but mbtext???how????
my jeans are staining the macadamia seats bigtime!
I am not sure what it is made from, but its very durable. I use a slighty damp cloth to wipe the seats. You will find that if you have Ash or Macadamia color interior, the MBtext will get pretty dirty, but it does wipe off.
no in all w164's except those with cloth, have real leather inserts, the center and back are leather the rest MB-TEX, but if u get full leather then everything is leather.

Zaino pH balanced cleaner followed by Zaino "leather in a bottle" conditioner works very well for both real leather and synthetic leather-like surfaces like MBtex. I've tried a bunch of different products and even used Lexol products for a while, but what I like best about the Zaino stuff is that like Lexol, it doesn't leave a gloss over the surfaces, doesn't feel greasy immediately after application, and unlike the Lexol, the Zaino stuff is great because it really foes give the car that new car leather smell again. Just don't use too much of the "leather in the bottle" stuff because it might leave too strong of a new leather smell. Good stuff.
I was under the impression from my dealer that MB Tex is all vinyl and no leather. Can anyone confirm this for sure. Is there any leather in a w164 MB Tex equiped vehicle?

Not true--at least for 2006 there was an al-synthetic MBTex (Leather Twin) option, as well as MBTex w/ Alcantara centers, and leather. Even leather has MBTex sides, I believe. If you get the MBTex really dirty (dogs or kids) I would use something like Griot's Garage Interior Cleaner.

There is a lot of wrong information out there - I can't believe that dealerships really have salesmen and saleswomen that know so little or misinform their buyers -
If your window sticker says, "_____(color) MB Tex" then it's all synthetic (vinyl-type), and no leather.
