Today the dealer unload three New Ml's. One ML280 CDI Iridium Grey with Keyless Go and two ML350 4-Matic on dark blue and the other Iridium Grey. Price not set. But will let you guys know.
Is it that big of a deal down there when a dealer gets inventory in?? Dealers up here have it happen every day. As for the prices don't they have MSRP labels there?? I have spent some time in both Aruba and Curacao and never payed much attention to new car dealerships.
We always have a good supply of goods as we are the biggest market for practically anything. In Europe and other places it is a big deal to get a couple of new cars....and then you have to pay out the wazooo for it

I do not believe that in Europe its such a big deal for a dealer to receive new inventory as their market is quite large and yes the pricing is out of sight. However, perhaps in the islands it is a big deal. I spend some time there every year and see mostly Japanese cars and lately many Smart cars, one of which I rented in St Barths recently.I do see a lot of MB trucks down there though.
No, it is surely not a big deal to have a few ML's coming in but on the issue of prices you are right, we pay crazy money for cars... Almost the triple you pay.

I would think that some of the high pricing is due to your govt's taxation and also to the exchange rates plus of course shipping from the US in the case of the Alabama built vehicles.
Here on the island a new ML can cost you around the US$. 80.000,00 that is without the sales and road/driving tax.
A second hand W163 can go for US$. 50,000.00 a low mileage mint condition.
I've seen the MB Tech at the dealer here putting together a ML270 CDI which was totaled. It took them 1 year to fix and install a whole new front. Using new and second hand parts from a ML320 which is also totaled but they use it for parts.
at those prices, you could buy new in the US, ship to your area, and sell it with next to no mileage and make a decent amount. Say 10~15k each car, do that with 10 cars and make a killing.
I was doing that with cars from the US to japan for a while. I was sending 1 year old BMW, Mercedes, Hummers, and also Navigators.
The Navigators, i buy 1 yr old for about 35~40 depending on spec, sells for nearly 80k in Japan. cost of shipping was about 10k, taxes and such to legalize another 3k. make about 25~30k a car depending. Not bad. do 10 cars a year, and u just made yourself a decent amount of $, and only takes maybe 10 hrs of work per car.
