I bought ML350 in June 2006 and now have a bout 7000 miles on it. What a mistake since there have been so many problems:
1. power steering oil leak within the first 2000 miles.
2. SRS (restrain system/airbag) malfunction msg. Dealer fixed cabling around steering wheel.
3. Remote works intermittenly. Dealer replaced batteries. Car was less than 3 months old at the time. I have never replaced the battery on my 2000 Camry!!!
4. Check oil at the next refuel msg (5, 6 times, all on highway, never on side streets). The 1st time was on the way to and from Las Vegas. Must have beeped at lease 3 or 4 time about 30, 40 miles apart. I checked the oil level and it was good, brought into dealer, they said they topped it off with 1/4 quart. Few weeks later, went to San Diego and msg came up again, I checked oil, looked good (at the max). This time dealer drained the oil and replaced the oil sensor. I thought that solved the problem but 2 weeks ago on the way back from San Diego, it showed up again. Now, don't know what else they can do!!!
5. Got msg service B in 20 days. Service B is 26000 miles, mine has 7K and only 9 month old. Dealer reset it for me.
I definitely feel like I bought a lemon. I do not recommend MB. Talk to mechannics, they will tell you about the bad quality of MB.

I'm sorry but I can't hold back anymore. The past few days I've read about a year's worth of posting for the new ML. I want to get all the information before I decide on a purchase. Many great posts and I've enjoyed reading most of them.

The funny thing is when someone asks about the "quality" it's funny how a "new" member will bash this new ML and their post count is under 10, AND never increases. This post is a prime example. I'm suprised he didn't say, "I'm going to the Lexus dealer tomorrow" which I've seen many times.

After reading so many posts about quality which I was concerned about, I've seen so many stupid posts like these and it pisses me off I believe it's quite obvious who these people really are...

Sorry about the rant but couldn't take it anymore! MERCEDES-BENZ, UNLIKE ANY OTHER...

Purchased my 2006 ML500 in May of 2005 and have 9,000 miles on odo. Compressor for Airmatic replaced within five months. Multi-function display indicated problem with battery that required three trips to the dealer before issue resolved with backup battery replaced. Transmission had a few shifting issues initially when coming to a stop sign, but that disappeared over a year ago.

Besides I've got other toys to keep me busy that I like working on more.
Hey, there is no reason why you can't continue to do your own oil changes. I have a 2005 Sprinter and I do the oil changes on it. I just keep all the receipts to validate the change was done.

We also just picked up a 2007 ML-320 CDI last Friday and I have spent the last few days reading all I can about the specific oil needed for the oil changes. It is ONLY Mobil 1 ESP 5W-40 oil. Right now that oil is ONLY available from the dealership. An email from Mobil says it's available to the retail trade but no one wants to carry it as it is only for 2007 Mercedes diesels. I'm going to try to order a few cases from a local Mobil distributor.

As to doing your own service, I see there are basically 2 services, A & B, or Big & Little. I plan on doing the little services such as the oil change and chassis lube and I'll take it in for the 2 year brake fluid change.

Good luck with our 320 CDI.

Quality?

21k on my early (5/06) ML350--no concerns whatsoever. Very well built and just a few minor problems easily corrected by the dealer.

I have a 2007 ML350 with 7K on it. No trouble at all. It is tight and quiet. I just bought the daughter a 2000 ML 320. I like it, but it is not in the same league with the new 164 chasis, imo. I also have a 2007 E350 and I enjoy driving the ML350 as much as the E class. But having owned a 85 300 turbo deisel and a 91 560 SEL, I do not think the new cars are as well built as the old ones. But I still like them anyway.

I agree with you. older cars such as 1990 E class cars are not easy to beat on quality. My father has it and It still rocks!!!!! no problems so far. that is what people call 'QUALITY'

I have an 2006 280 ml cdI. my older car was a 2003 c classe which was an excellent car on plastic and construction quality but I cant see the same plastic and construction quality on my ML. the console has a different plastic pattern that looks like a korean suv. another problem which is getting me crazy is that the command aps wont play dvd movies. any other brand's navigaiton units are capable of playing dvd movies. isn't that silly!!!!!

I'm not impressed with our 06 ML350.

My advise, get the extended warranty, it'll be worth it.

I am sorry too..., I can't hold back either!! Why are you bashing some of us unlucky customers who have problems with our vehicles???!!! You don't see people with problematic cars bashing others who state their car is flawless!! You think we want these problems to happen and enjoy the enourmous inconveince and time spent bringing the vehicle to the dealership??!! Pad yourself in the back for your brand-loyalty. Better yet, trade your C-class in for a ML and cross your fingers buddy. Betcha if you had problems with the car, you won't admit it and still quote "MERCEDES-BENZ, UNLIKE ANY OTHER....." Oh btw, my post count is 49 and counting.......what's yours again????
