I got my new UK ML 320CDI Sport 3 weeks ago but cannot seem to find a comfortable driving position. My car comes with electric sports seats but no matter how I try I can't seem to find the right height/tilt/recline combination. Anyone else had this problem?

This is a funny thread, I just got the ML a week and was "feeling" the same way, coming from the C55 which I had for 2 1/2 years, I had all the pre-sets well worked out.
in the ML, I have two memory settings.
1 - cruising, seat in lowest position, some angle, still close to wheel and pedals but able to stretch a bit.
2 - sport driving, seat a little higher, close up to steering more of on top of the wheel then behind.
both are "comfortable" but one definetly feels more control for turns etc...
I am still playing with the settings and this issue is purely personel Preference....
I agree with so many positions its hard to just pick one!

I've found that the seat's comfortability level grows on you. When I first got the vehicle I encountered the same problem - Now after 13months it's hardly an issue. Just four months after owning the vehicle I drove for 8 non stop hours without any discomfort. Enjoy your new ML and good luck to you mark-yorkshire.

I normally prefer to drive with seat on lowest height setting but with some tilt of the base downwards from front to back and some slight recline of backrest. I find that putting some tilt on the base unfortunately increases the height automatically. I can feel discomfort after driving only a short distance e.g. less than a mile.
I am not sure whether the discomfort is down to seat adjustments or padding in base of seat or even the lack of anywhere to place left foot due to foot operated parking break.
My last car was a 2005 BMW 5 Series with Sports seats which were very comfortable and a whole lot better than the SE seats which I had in 2004 5 series. However I recently owned for a short while a Z4 with Sports seats which were very uncomfortable.

Did you have a sedan or coupe before the SUV? That might be one reason...
Some people who used to drive one type of car before, takes a loooong time to get used to driving a different type... so if you're used to driving a sports car or even a sedan and now changing to an SUV will throw you off... the sitting pattern is very different...
I'm really glad others feel this way too . I noticed the seating position somewhat uncomfortable after going through all the different seating positions. After a while I thought it was just ME. After a year with the car I have gotten much more used to it and much more comfortable.
I did come from driving a sedan before this so IcyKool has a very valid conclusion and maybe it just takes a bit longer for us sedan or coupe users to get used to SUV.
