I did a search (and read the manual) but found no mention on whether or not my 07 ML500 has a motion sensor as part of the alarm system. I have 2 dogs, and when they are with me, I like to lock the doors, but turn off the motion alarm so they don't inadvertently set off the alarm when they move around the cabin whenever I am out of the car running errands. My old X5 had a feature where the car was armed, and could only be tripped if the door, or rear gate was opened, but not movement. Does my ML have this feature?
Yes it has a motion sensor. I go on ferryboats every day and when I forget to turn the alarm off, it starts beeping at once the ferryride starts!
Do you have an alarm installed or is it just whatever came standard with the car? I do not have an alarm installed but when i exit my ML, there is an option to disable the tow-away alarm. Is this what you turn off on the ferry?

From what I can see here in Germany, the interior motion-sensor is an extra option.
This is different that the standard exterior motion alarm – which I think is actually the Tow-Away alarm.
Can anyone recommend an after market alarm system that integrates well with the US version 2007 ML320cdi? I don't need really fancy features since we don't have much crime here and there is nowhere to hide a stolen vehicle on an island that is 22 miles long! The only feature I might like is beeper notification if the alarm is activated.
