Tire Pressure Monitoring System in MY07 ML350

Hello guys,

I got 2007 ML350 from U.S here in Japan with P1 and changed 17inch normal wheels to 19inch 5spoke wheels from appearance package in Japan at second hand shop. (This 19inch came from MB Japan) Then TPMS warning lamp indicated in multifunction display becasue of non wheel sensor available. (This is not the Adavanced TPMS, and I assume this is newly available for all U.S ML350 from MY07)I think frequency level of wheel sensors are different between U.S and Japan and therefore TPMS can not communicate with sensors with Japanese frequency on 19inch wheels.

Does anyone have same problem when changed the wheel to other brand like Brabus, Lorinser, etc becasue of non wheel sensors available ?

In this case, how you guys treat the warning lamp in multifunction display ?

Is that possible to buy the proper sensors as after market and put them into my 19inch appearance package wheels to reactivate ? and what is price ?

Since MB Japan has no idea about vehicle from U.S side, I need some idea how to settle it down.

Thanks for your help.

I just dealt with this issue on my 2006 SL600. I did not like the stock wheels and bought a set of 2003 AMG wheels off of Ebay. The AMGs did not have tire pressure senders and the dash light came on. After studying the manual, I found that there was no good way to turn off the tire pressure system. The brain box and fuse box for it are buried in the back of the car. I removed the instrument panel and took it apart and carefully painted out the tire warning LED with flat black paint. I couldn't use black tape because of lack of clearance with the speedo needle.

The dealer offered to try to turn off the system with the Star tool, but I would have had to leave the car with them and wait. I hate going to the dealer...

Thanks Beecher,

I also have dealed with this topic and I found out one good solution.
Tire has sensor to communicate tire warning system in the vehicle and this sensor has battery. Battery will be survive for a long time, but in case battery out, we have to change the sensor itself. So I think if you get original sensros and put them into your AMG wheels, then it should be go out.

In addition, as a result of looking TPMS supplier for W164, I found out the supplier of this sensors. I will get 4 sensors with air valve which will fit for those sensors. (Sensor is fixed by air valve on the wheels)

I believe this should work and warning lamp will be disappear becuase my new wheel is also for orignal W164 wheels (17 -> 19 inch)

I hope this would be help, becuase TPMS supplier for '06 SL600 should be exactly same as my ML350. (Valve on type)
