I have a 2007 ML350 on order since the first week of October and should be accepting delivery this week. It was a hard decision to pick out a model at first and to be honest with you I am still losing sleep over this. I am curious as to what you choice, thoughts, reasoning, and opinions would be between the ML350 and CLS550. I would like some serious replys and insight on this. I never knew this would bother me as much as it is. Lastly do you guys think I made the right choice by getting P2 instead of P3. My sales rep said that the dealership doesnt really deliver them at all really with P3. He went on to state that if i was ordering a car he would recommend it but not for a suv. It was not a matter of the them trying to put me into something on the lot or something they could get in from another dealer. The ML was goin to be a factory build either way. I didnt have the luxory of being able to test drive them both ways. Is the difference so major that I should not accept my ML and have it reordered with the P3.
It seems to me you have to make up your mind whether you you want a Car or Suv. If you opt for the Suv then pick the package you want and don't worry about what the salesman wants,he's not the one paying for it.

If you're going to reorder, get the ML320 CDI with Airmatic (P3). You'll never look back.
On city streets and parking lots with speed bumps, the Comfort setting is super. For normal driving, Automatic is great; and for twisting country and mountain roads, the Sport setting turns it into a real handling machine. And the 320 CDI will far outperform the 350 when it comes to power and especially economy.

Stick with P2-unless you have to have Airmatic. Your salesman is correct that he doesn't deliver them b/c P3 amounts to about $10k of options that you pay for that depreciate almost completely away the moment you drive off the lot. If the depreciation doesn't bother you, go with P3; if it does, stick with P2.
The most important "option" on the ML is to select a 320CDI. It has been about 3 weeks since the temperature has been above freezing, and our CDI travelled 522 miles on one tank of fuel at 23.4 mpg in that weather. It does even better when it is warmer. I don't have airmatic and don't miss it, as it just handles fine as it is. I'll drive a sports car if I want better handling, and save the ML for when I want an SUV.
I can see that ur deciding between 2 totally different vahicles. Now the base price of the cls550 is 67k and the ML350 is 43k, so thats a big jump, but if u want all the little things like me, cause i'm a gadget guy, i use everything in that car, i'd get P3, AIRMATIC is the most highly recommended option, it's really where the ML shines, the ride is totally different from the stock steel springs. I definately do recommend it, u never know u might want to tow it's a big help, if ur carrying a hitch bike rack or carrier it is a big help to avoid hitting the driveway trust me. Also P3 has some other nice features such as parameter steering, which is a great help, 3-zone climate control which is the most powerful rear A/C i've ever seen, IR glass, helps some, and Cargo management, helps a lot when u have groceries, prevents them from rolling around. Just my opinion i have all of this and it was worth the 63k i spent on my ml500.
