LOL! X5 looks like a clown car in my opinion a small car expecting to have 10ft tall clowns just walk out. The ML has it all it's is less than the new X5 with more features, i would definately choose the ML as i did, in my opinion some may say it's imature, but knowing that ur SUV is faster than most SUV's out there even though they may have more horses is really kool, especially since it's a MBZ, which the average person would see like a slow luxo car, shows what they know. I can agree with Blue_Monster, i've done a hundred in my 500 and it's like a toy, very easy to control. ANd THE SOUND, WOW! I'M IN HEAVEN WHEN I HIT ANYWHERE ON THE TACH AT LOW RPM"S IT HAS THE DEEP NOTE< AND AT THE HIGH RPM"S IT SOUNDS LIKE IT"S TEARING UP THE ROAD, WHICH IT IS OF COURSE.

So far I am putting my mind on the ML. I was looking at the ML350 but the 320 CDI seems to have the advantage of saving fuel which means saving the planet earth as well. The only worry is that the dessel engine may break down earlier than the petrol engine and may cost more in the long term.

I believe the new x5 4.8 and the updated porsche cayenne S are faster than the ML500..My dad owns a ML500 and there is not much of a difference compared to the ML350..only the big v8 roar.

The updated cayenne "S" as well as the new x5 4.8 may be faster than the ML 500, but I assure you the ML 500 is PURE JOY. For less $$$ than the "S" and the 4.8 the 500 does everything well enough to bing that satisfying smile to your face.

You may think that the new X5 isn't changed that much and looks very similar to the old one but it is not possible to say that it is not a new model.

And there will not be any COMPLETE change for X5 in a couple of years. Only a facelift as usual for german cars in 3rd or 4th year of the model.

Go for the ML. You will get a problem free car unlike the BMW. Bmw's are full of problems, just today a friends head gasket went on a 520i, what rubbish cars.

I have no experience with X5. However, I bought 2006 ML350 in September 2005. It has been in the shop for over 53 days for various problems. Listing those problems will be a waste of space. Some ML35o can end up like this.
By the way, according to State of Virginia if a vehicle during its first 18 months is in the shop for 30 days or more due to mechanical problems, it is a lemon. And I am going for it.

Wow, who said the ML handles way better than the X-5. Sorry, but thats not the case. In fact, I doubt there are many Mercedes that will handle better than any equivalent BMW. I have an ML350 and an E500 and to be honest, they both need better handling. The newest X5 looks very aggressive and if you are shopping for the V8, its somewhere close to 350HP.

I am not putting down Mercedes, I own two of them, but my experience with BMWs has always been that they are better drivers cars.
