Question ML 350 2006 Rain Sensor Wiper Mode

Hi All,

Has anyone had your Rain Sensor Wipers turn on at the every start of engine? Is this normal? If it is, isnt it kind of a bad design since your wipers will damage the windshield glass when its dry.

I have search the rest of the form and heard someone having same problem but on a different model car.

Anyone? Thank you.

They seem to be very sensitive to dust or other junk on the windshield. I only turn mine to that mode if it is actually raining. Once the weather clears up I turn them back off for that very reason.

I leave mine on sensor mode all the time. I can just about say that it never wipes on startup unless the windshield is wet. I know the book recomends leaving them off until needed.

Just an update. I took my ML 350 to my original dealer and they told me that its normal for the wipers to wipe once whenever the engine starts... Thats total BS...

I took it to another dealer and they told me right away that there is a problem. They ended up changing the sensor and reprogramming the sensor. It works perfectly now. The wipers doesnt not wipe on engine starups and only wipes when it rains...

So for those of you who have similar problems dont get fooled by what your dealer says if they say its normal....

Bad dealers always tell that everything is normal in any case.
