After leaving my ML63 sit in a garage for 5 days I went to start it and .... no go.... dead/very very low battery.
Jump started it with no problems.
Reason for dead/low low battery: I left the key (keyless go) on top of the front left tire so apparently because the key was close to the vehicle it runs the vehicle battery down slowly. I had heard that this could happen from a friend of mine who has an S550 so I looked thru my owner's manual and couldn't find any warning of the sort so I thought it wouldn't happen to the ML. Wrong! I asked the dealer's service writer and he wasn't aware of it...although I didn't ask a service tech.
So bottom line is don't leave your key (if you have keyless go) in close proximity to your vehicle for a long period of time or......quite possibly you'll have a dead/low low battery.
take it to a dealer immediatley, i know you jump started it, samething happened to me, take it to a dealer so they could clear the low voltage codes. I didn't and i began getting random messages like run-flat indicator, etc. just a piece of advice.

Good idea! The only abnormalty I've seen so far is the one touch up on the rear windows doesn't work. Just the up side on the rear only.
for me too only happens when two people pull it at the same time. Quick question, why'd you take your running boards off.
Because they were in the way getting in and out of the vehicle and would get the back of my pants leg dirty.
By the way the one touch up for the rear windows works now....fixed all by itself. Everything else works great after the jump start.
What a great/fun vehicle to drive...fast or "relaxed"
Just turned 5,000 miles with no problems and used a total of one quart of oil...now stabilized. Love that instant power and a transmission that's always in the right gear or will give it to you right now if needed.
I don't think that is the case. I leave my key (I have keyless go on my ML500) in the car all the time, sometimes for days as well as I have 2 other vehicles to drive, and I've never had a dead batter. I did leave my parking lights on once (only for 1 day as well) and had a dead batter. Wife came to jump: opened the hood and forgot there was no battery under the hood! Looked all over until I found the terminals

The service writer at the dealer said that he also has people leave the key in the vehicle for long periods of time too with no problem. I left my key outside the vehicle on top of the left front tire so since it was within the 3' "zone" maybe it draws the vehicle's battery down because of that?
I'm playing it safe and taking the key away from the vehicle when in the garage and I also keep a jump start battery I bought from Home Depot accessible just in case.
Someday when I have the time I'll try leaving the key inside the vehicle for 5 days and see what happens.
