Angry why leather inserts and not FULL leather

i'm confused as to why MB would make only part of their seats leather (the middle/inserts) and not the rest of the seat??

are all manufactures doing this?? my audi is FULL leather, why not the MBs??? or is that a special option on top the $50k people are already paying for their cars??!!! thats insane!!

Partial leather was offered on the 2006 nodel as a mid-range option between MBTex (vinyl) and full leather. There was also the MBTex/Alcantara option. I do not see those options in the 2007 offerings. You get MBTex as the base with full leather for an additional $1,540 in the US.

Be aware that even on many cars "full leather" often includes only the seating surfaces and not the sides or back. This is strictly a cost-saving measure.

Too bad they did not pass on the cost savings.

Everyone's needs and wants are different. The most important aspects of a vehicle, IMO, are those related to its engineering, performance, drviing dynamics, utility and safety. I have no problem with leather being an option--some do not want it, so you have a choice. If it was included as standard, the base price would be higher.
