Update on new ML320 CDI (AMG) Performance
I picked it up Friday morning at Mercedes Benz of Nashville, and took it on a 500+ mile trip. Heres the actual numbers:
City: Lowest # seen was 17.4MPG (heavy & slow traffic)
Highway: Highest # seen was 29.7MPG (96 mile stretch)
Trip Average: 27.3MPG over 601 miles total
No noises, everything works perfect, plenty of power, handles like a sports car on mountain roads as well as llying up steep hills without breaking a sweat!
I am elated at the performance and economy! It is quiet, very slight engine noise (about the same as our E320 CDI), and cabin noise is low at 75MPH.
Yeah, I LOVE it!
Hope this info helps you guys & gals, I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the other new owners report.

ML 320 CDI Cabin Noise..........
The last time my wife had her E320 CDI in for service, MB Nashville loaned her an 2006 E350. The cabin noise was noticibly higher in the E350 gas car, plus it didn't have near the power of the CDI. I'm extremely pleased with the low ambient noise level in the cabin of my new ML320 CDI. Y'know, someone was griping about discount, I didn't get a discount, but I did get the first ML CDI in Nashville, and it was worth it!
I drove an ML 320 CDI yesterday in Birmingham. Great vehicle. Only thing I did not like was the way two sets of golf clubs fit in the rear. My wagon is longer in the cargo area and the 163 ML's have more width and clubs fit widthwise. I'm trying to get over the smaller rear cargo space because I really liked the way it drove. Also drove the GL and liked it even better, but I have an issue with driveway/garage entry and I'm afraid the GL is just too big-but it is darn nice.
Enjoy yours-they had 3 in Birmingham and several R CDI's
