Took Delivery - ML320CDI

All -

Picked up my ML320CDI from the dealership (AZ) last night. He only had 2 come in, they never made it to the front - both were sold [one was mine]. Claims they are sold out of their allocation well into next year.

Basic ML: Iridium Silver / Black Alcantara; PO1 Package; Lighting Package; Interior Appearance Package; Roof Rack and Trailer Hitch.

I traded my 05 E320CDI [wanted the SUV] and so far in my limited driving the torque is incredible. I am definitely going to get out today and put some miles on it…time to break it in. I’ll keep track of the mileage – they have it listed at 21/27 and post.

Hopefully, I won’t be a ‘test case’ for the new ML320CDI, I am always nervous on first year production. Looking forward to exchanging new ownership experiences and issues with other ML drivers.

2006 was the first year for the ML 320 CDI, it just wasn't sold in the USA. We'll all probably have the same problems with the CDI, but we won't be able to fall back on calling it a first year car.

Good luck.
I can't wait for mine- estimated delivery is mid november.
Did you get hosed on the trade in values?
Do you mind saying what the trade in and purchese prices were?
I'll bet the MPG will be higher.
Also, what are the "break in" procedures/ no no's?

Regarding the trade of the E320CDI - dealer gave me wholesale - but like any car; I took a huge loss but I expected it (Doesn’t feel any better). I was ‘suggesting’ some discount on the new ML320…that didn’t happen. My Base was $43680 which was lower than what the web site is showing.

At least there wasn’t any “market adjustment” like some dealers attempt to charge for high demand vehicles. I think with gas prices dropping – some of the spotlight has been diminished.

Break in [by the book] is no cruz control – keep it under 100MPH…whatever. I put on about 300 miles and according to the MPG computer: 25.1 – 60/40 Hwy/City driving.

They do emphasize in the handbook that you are required to use the ULSD (15ppm).

Cool
When is the first oil change?
More importantly- how does it drive?
How is acceleration?
How do you like it so far?

Oil: Says in the book 10K miles or so.
Drives great, however I cannot compare it to an older ML (didn't have one)

Still breaking it in so I haven't jump on it....yet....but seems to have mucho power.

So far so good.....

However, I am searching the forums trying to find a fix for my phonebook download via blue tooth. The phonebook downloads - however the icons are all the same so I cannot tell if the number is the office, home or cell.

what is the handling like -- do you feel like you could push it hard through corners and on-ramps -- with confidence (compared to SUVs or average cars; not sports cars)?

I am starting to 'work' the car a little more as I get comfortable with it. Heavier than my E320CDI, so far I am pleased with the performance.

In comparison with my old SUV [Chevy Tahoe @ 12MPH – which I sold to get this], NO comparison in handling, performance and all around comfort. I really liked my Tahoe – but I can tell already – this is a far superior SUV.

Just filled up and my normal diesel station had the new ULSD – same price, no problems.
