Yesterday when I was merging with traffic to enter the Highway, My sunroof exploded. It was a very loud noise that really scared me. Fortunatly I did not panic and cause an accident. Glass was all over me and the Car. Nothing hit my car when this happened. I see in this forum that this has happened to others. Being the weekend, I must wait until Monday to call Mercedes. In the meantime it is pouring rain and I can't drive my vehicle.

I have not heard of that, but is is certainly plausible. Tempered glass has a surface tension that strengthens it. However, if there is a flaw in an edge or it get's hit on the edge, it can break.
BTW, you need to take it to a dealer, not call MBUSA. That's all they will tell you.
