ML Class "Check engine oil level warning" 2006
Model 164.186
Erroneous IC Warning Display “Check Engine Oil Level at Next Service Stop” regarding the above model vehicles concerning instrument cluster warnings that state: “Check Engine Oil Level at Next Service Stop,” yet the oil dipstick indicates that the measured oil level is normal - this may be caused by incorrect oil data sets in the control unit ICM.
The selinoid is so sensitive it will tel you low oil, even if off the slightest bit. The oil is circulating through the engine and only a few quarts are actually in the pan when driving so if it's down a little, it will think the oil is low. I have a diesel that it happens a the smallest amount.

Happy Benzing!!
When I took delivery of my C240, I was less than a mile away from the dealership when my low engine oil notification came on. I brought it immediately back, they added a tiny bit of oil (seemed like less than 8oz), and I was on my way. My Service Advisor said the sensor will note the slightest deficiency in oil. Haven't had a problem since.

I am getting the same message at the beginning of the very same climb on my way back from work. Not everyday but enough to get my attention. Interesting glitch
