Well i just got my second ml500, the previous one was a 2002 ml 500 and the new one is 2006 ml 500.
With the 2002 model up until the warranty expired all my services done free by the mb dealer and i was under the impression that it will be the same with my new car "i havent verify this with the service as yet" but some users at this forum says that they only got their first service for free and they had to pay for others even the car is under warranty.

Hi,
Mercedes-Benz no longer offers the complimentary services that were included with the purchase of a car several years ago. With your 2006 ML500, there will be a cost (around $200 for a Service A, and $500 for a Service B) associated with your interval services. I apologize for the bad news!
This means more and more people will go to third party services to get oil change and stuff done, will ruin the cars reputation in the long run, i cant believe how mercedes allowing this to happen.

Yes, I was suprised as well. I have been so used to having Service A and B included with our other vehicles while under warranty, I didn't think twice when we took delivery of our '06 ML & R. I just found out and confirmed with my dealer two days ago that they stopped this service begining with '05 models.
I now recall how BMW is really pushing FULL maintenance for 4years/50K miles, that includes brake pads, brake rotors, even wiper blades! I've owned BMW's in the past, they're great vehicles, but I think I'll stick with Mercedes Benz.
Oh well, I guess that means less trips to Starbucks!

With the money you will save not buying Starbucks and the money saved on gas not driving to Starbucks, you may be able to pay for the service... :-)

Audi is also dropping free service--it will be interesting to see if BMW holds on to it until I get my next M3 in 2007. On the current M3 it can add up to a couple thou because of the expensive valve adjustments. It's not what decides the vehicle I choose, but it's a nice perk.

There is no free lunch!! The services are figured into the MSRP. Mercedes would rather hold down the initial purchase cost. Overall savings or perceived savings on my 02ML500 was only the cost of 2 A services and one B Service. Over a 4 year period thats not a lot of money.
That is what i found out too. One of my buddy's friend bought the new S550 in San Francisco. He thought, at least all of us did, the service on it should be free but i guess not. The guy had to pay about 500-700 for it. He was pretty pissed. There goes mercedes 5 star service.
Can't wait for bmw to release their 2007 x5, i will sell this ml 500 even i loose money, what makes the car perfect also the customer service they give you. once i feel like i am beeing used thats it for me.
