Any ML 350/500 owner had changed the stock tires (either 17" or 18") or is expecting to replace the tires? How many miles had you had or currently have on the tires?
I am wondering how many miles the stock tires last for the new ML
My OE tires were Conti 4x4Contacts, what a horrible tire. They rode alright and were an all round OK tire, but I only got 10K out of them (I drive quickly, but I am not overly aggressive and I stay mostly on paved roads, just a few rocky traverses up to trailheads for climbing/running/etc a week). 10k is all I got (yes, I rotated them).
It's not much of a secret that Conti makes some of the worst tires out there, and then when you have them make an OE tire (which has less tread and a softer compound b/c MB wants to cut costs on tires and still show good test-driving performance with a softer compound), well, you can imagine what comes out.
Anyway, my buddy's dad runs a tire shop so I had the gamut of choices to pick from (high end Michelins, you really can't go wrong with them) to the run of the mill.
I bought a set of Hankook Dynapro ATs (DS8s I think), I have been VERY happy with them. So far they are wearing quite well, have a semi-aggressive pattern (MS rating, too) that is not obnoxious on-road but does afford a bit more bite than the stock Conti pattern off-road. Hankook is a smaller player in the US tire market but is gaining market share, their pricing reflects that. Granted he gave me these tires at this wholesale cost and put them on for free so this is a low ball, but I paid $450 out the door.

Thanks for the input. Really appreciate it.
Btw, I may be able to hook up anyone here w/ 1 or 2 set of 4 Michelin Latitude Tour tires in 235/65/17 for ML 350 or another Michelin in 255/55/18 for ML500
