With the new X5 coming this fall,
there are some really attractive specials on the current X5....looking to buy a good daily driver within the next few months , but maybe its better to wait until the new one releases ? ( been hit with the new model depreciation with my ML, so hoping to be on the other end of the down for once)
Any one have any experience about these cars can give me some advice, my concerns are
* good economy
my ml500 gets 14 mpg, hoping the 3.0 x5 has alot better economy, any one have any experience ?
* reliability
cost to own, expensive repairs, any bad experiences ? Are the Toyotas better?
I own a X5 and love it. The new 2007 X5 may be something to avoid for a year while BMW works out the bugs. The nice thing about the 2006 is they are reliable and the kinks are all worked out.
For the 6-cylinder expect around 18 driving around town and 22ish on the highway. The 8-cyl is a tad worse but not terrible.
One of the guys that i work with was recently driving a W163 ML500 05' and a guy stopped beside him in a X% 4.4i and said that he was gonna replace the X5 with a new ML when his lease was up because from the lights the X5 couldnt keep up with the Ml !
Owned an X5 for 3 years and would have bought another one if it wasn't for the fact that the (old) model is aging now and I couldn't wait another 2-3 years to buy a fully developped new model. Always had good expereriences with the X5. It didn't have the air suspension as well, so there was another reason. Probably the new model will have that option, together with the bi-turbo 535 diesel, yummy....
