Is it normal that my ml was delivered last week with the nav version 4.0, now that the 5.1 and 6.0 are available ?

Same problem, ml 280 delivered with 4.0 and roads of my city completely wrong?
The question is: which version correspond to ml w164?

I've got the message from the dealer that i can get the new version 6.1 for 310 euro.

I find it kind of strange (even incomprehensible) that a new car is delivered with a 2 year old nav-version.

That's normal for MB. They use up old parts before switching to new ones.

The 6.1 DVD just came out in April 2006. It's an improvement, but not bug free.

What are the improvements of 6.1 ?
Does anyone know?
Does it change interface?
Current graphic is not that great comparing to BMW and even Chrysler...
Much better then Infinity though..
I just wonder if it is worth to upgrade?

I replied to stev from Belgium and drlukas from Italy. For Europe the latest DVD NAV came out in April 2006 after a long wait, about 2 years, and so has a number of noticeable improvements, like more precise tracking. The part number is B6 782 3641 for DVD version 6.1 M-Class W164 with COMAND NTG2 NAV (Europe).

The US it's different, was released in January 2006, also called version 6.1.
Part number BQ 6-46-0218 and is for the MCS DVD of the old M-Class.

For the new M-Class with MCS2 the latest part number I have is MB part BQ 6-46-0213 for the version 5.1 DVD. Have not checked yet, if a newer one is available?

i havw to say that the benz nav system is second rate compared to the lexus. i have a rx330 and an ml350 and it is like comparing windows XP to windows 95.. the nav in the lexus costs around an extra $3K whereas the benz cost an extra $7K (AUD). i would not buy benz again!!
