RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

If you are using the AUX input in the glove box, you will need an amplifier:

If you are using the iPod integration kit, you should have the kit checked by your dealer. The amplifier is built in and the iPod is using its line out instead of the headphone jack.

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

I have been using my iPod in my ML and I haven't had any problems. I'm using the older iPod ( iPod with dock connector ). I did update my iPod
( http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ ) to make sure all the software is updated.

Hope this helps.

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

As for me, I dont have the MB Ipod kit but use the tape adaptor with my Bose system. I also at the same time, keep the volume on the ipod at 3 quarters high. It can go quite loud.

Would this headphone amplifier help in any way since im using it in the car through the headphone jack of the ipod?

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

I have been so fed up with it now that the weather has become warmer and I'm driving with the windows down and the sunroof open that I'm either going to ask for a refund or have MB fix it.

My SA said this is an acknowledged issue, his voicemail got cut short but he said they can't fix it, but....and then he cut out, so I will call him back tommorow and see what he has to say.

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

I would have them replace yours, if you are using an approved iPod it should work. I have a dealer installed iPod integration kit with a video iPod and have no volume issues at all.

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

I am anxiously looking forward to your reply. I hope your tech has a solution. I am having the same problem with the kit I put in my SLK55[:)]

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

Its not an ipod problem its the mercedes benz kit problem. I installed my own ipod kit in my W163 using my own aux in i have my ipod connected using the dock connector and it will go very loud. The ipod kit i have used is on my parents E350 same ipod that is crazy loud in my ML is almost dead quiet in the E350 that has HK logic 7 system. I recommend in itunes not to boost the output it will make your songs sound like crap. I am thinking that it is more of a software issue with the mercedes system and i hope they fix it soon.

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

So my SA said it is an acknowledged issue with the AUX port, since the iPod kit hooks into the AUX port, it is limited by the performance of said port.

He didn't have much more information for me other than there is no solution and none is planned. I'm going to take this up with MBUSA, get the dealer out of the picture here. I'm pretty upset that the system is so impotent!

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

Have you tried another iPod or know anyone else with a ML and iPod? I do not have issues with volume, why can't you push for another kit?

RE: iPod Volume (too low!)

Ok, spent a ton of time on line researching. Take a look at these two programs:

MP3gain
euPOD

There is definitely an issue with the volume on my car kit. Benz OEM integration kit for the SLK55AMG.

but. if you run mp3gain and normalize to 89db, then gun eupod and bump up the volume level 15 to 20% using eupod, the volume becomes more than acceptable, without clipping.

Let me know if this works for you too. Just google both program names and you should find links for the downloads pretty easy.

Cheers,

T
