No More Navigation Update Subscriptions

After getting the Nav System installed I asked about the subcritption to save a little money on update disc's, MB decided to do ayway with it so they can charge more for annual disc that we will have to buy from MB Dealers. Here is the link to the Nav Update site they reference on the DVD case for updates.[:(!]

RE: No More Navigation Update Subscriptions

Navtech is the one that did away with the subscription. They have been having problems keeping up with the demand.

So how will going to MB help with the demand? Seems like it would be good business for NAVTech to have garanteed income from subscriptions.

RE: No More Navigation Update Subscriptions

I'm not sure. I ordered the Nav subscription for my '03 ML back in October of 2004. First they were going to have the update in July of '05, then November, then January. When I called in December to ask for a refund they send that they didn't offer refunds on subscriptions. I asked them to switch it to the new vehicle and they said they couldn't do that because they no longer sold subscriptions. (I guess they were getting too many customer calls.)

I finally got a hold of a nice lady who said that she could give me a refund. A few weeks later I called and the DVD had already shipped but the lady I talked to issued a return authorization number and said that they would cut a check.

My observation is they have all of the classic signs of a business that has more business than it can handl
