Deny, Deny, Deny, thats what dealers do for all the problems reported by customers.
I am pretty mad, I took my car to the Dealer for following problems, and apart from very obvious problems they denied all others saying they cannot reproduce. What should I do, this is frustrating:
Well, following were the problems reported.
1. Fuel Guage not working (2nd time)- This was obvious so was fixed by replacing the fuse. 1st time around problem was fixed by replacing sending units. 3 strikes and car goes back to Dealer
2. Transmission Jerking- again pretty obvious, so value unit was replaced and transmission reprogrammed
3. Wind noise from driver side door- Claim Denied, Cannot reproduce. I went on test drive with dealer and a technician and I was lectured for 15 mins on the difference between wind noise and turbulence. I suggested to use decibel meter (db meter) in my car and the other new ML off the lot and compare the level of sound.... This idea was shot down too
4. Squeal noise from engine bay during cold morning startups- Again denied, saying cannot reproduce. I had also recorded the sound in a voice recorder and was told that this is not enough of a proof
5. Rear Suspension bouncy- Denied, saying this is normal operation.
This is outrageous, None of the problems (# 3,4,5) are very big but you cannot just ignore it. This is the same dealer from where I bought the car.

I bought service from our dealer for 3 years before buying a new vehicle. I am very picky when it comes to my vehicles. I first made contact with the SA and talked to him about how I keep my cars and asked what I could expect from them. I have been getting service there for the last 7 + years.
Since then we have bought 4 vehicles from this dealer, 3 new 1 used.
We had many problems with the 2002 C240, but the dealer was gracious and listened to our concerns and made every effort to correct the problems that we encountered.
We eventually traded it because my wife really didn't like the car. Our dealer has always treated us well. No complaints on this end.

Document, Document, Document,Document,Document,Document!! I saved everything I had from MB and service. At one point service would not give me my service report, which is not legal, and I had that documented as well. As per the Fed. Fair Trade.
As you know my ML is long gone, and some more people I know have done the same. Just in the case you need to take action, make sure you save everything. The best way to do this is send email with a return receipt.
1. Your instrument cluster needs the version coding corrected/changed(insist they investigate further)
2.No comment
3.There is a updated door seal for front doors and a bulletin for the rears.(refer #1)db meter great idea a diagnostic tech at the dealer should have one.
4.Well on cold starts your engine's air injection pump will run,to me it sounds like a electric motor(witch it is)....hard to say...Maybe tell them not to start the vehicle untill you get there in the morning.
5. Sorry no thoughts on this one maybe ask to road test another new one..........

I have had a 06 ML350 that had windnoise from driver side door. The doorseal was misplaced in the top-rear corner and let alot of noise in. This was replaced and the noise was gone!
I have the same squel noise for 1-2 tenth of a sec from engine bay during cold morning starts, as you have (we have cold moring starts for 6 months in Norway). Have not done anything to fix this.
I think you should consider getting a new dealer.

The new door seal did not fix my issue, on both sides.

The new door seal did not fix my issue, on both sides.
The new door seal has a foam liner on the inside of the rubber to supply more tension on the door and was not avaliable till last month. I would try to have the dealer verify if you recived the updated one or just a regular replacment.(lots of them have just been replaced with the same one removed untill recently)

I did get the new seal, and the glue came from germany because it was on back order.

I did get the new seal, and the glue came from germany because it was on back order.
The glue is for the rear doors not the fronts, the fronts are secured by plastic rivets and double sided adhesive.
Yes the glue/primer and sealant for the rear doors was on backorder for along time due to the bulletin. Most dealers were installing the glue when the vehicle was pdi'd(high demand) and is still hard to get.
The new seal has to be ordered through special procurement most dealers or techs wont even know it exists yet since there is no bulletin and it has not been relased for "dealer stock". They would have to went through a special procurement to have the seal released.
