the check engine light is on AGAIN!!!. This is f'ing unacceptable. My car has 1800 miles on it and i've had to bring it in twice for the check engine light and twice for the auto tailgate. Can someone explain to me the process of demanding a refund on my vehicle?? I paid for it in cash (wondering if this was a mistake). I'm considering this option now, and i DON't want a different mercedes, i would want my money back. I may change my mind, but i'm definitely starting to consider this.

Being furious is not going to help. They can pull the fault causing the light and fix it. Sounds like to me that you are out of control and perhaps putting the dealership in a position where they do not care to see you or, for that matter work on your vehicle. You seem a bit arrogant and demanding. There is no need for that and its not going to help you. Sure, its annoying but no body did this to you intentionally.
i am not out of control. yes, i am demanding, but this is a $50k car with 1800 miles on it that has been brought in 3 times already for various fixes, plus, i just brought in the car for the check engine light FOUR days ago, and it's on again. I am a busy man, i don't think i am overreacting.
Same with my ML. After one week of inital check up(3000 miles) this light came on then they filled with oil then again it came on after 2000 miles drive so I took it the dealer yesterday. They are going to test the engine oil consumption. They will change the filter and change engine oil. Once 1000 miles reached they will check the engine oil level. I will update the outcome.
your issue sounds like the check engine OIL light, no? mine is the check engine light. i made another appointment (the people at the dealer are getting to know me, and unlike the previous poseter's suggestion, i have been absolutely courteous to them.) my complaint is that i've had to bring in the car 4 times now for a car with 1800 miles, that's once every 450 miles or so. i have a demanding job and don't have the time to keep doing this.
Although I understand that ‘check engine light' is not as serious as other people problems, there should be a line drawn somewhere.
How much inconvenience can you take? (2-3 times a month at the dealer??) Although it is free now (just time consuming and frustrating) those visits will not be free after warranty expires….
Can somebody with a legal knowledge spell out the ‘us lemon law’ for all of us here. Perhaps it should be a separate topic.
Before you take it in, put all your problems with the car in writing to the dealership in a letter, stating that if the problems cant be repaired you would like a full refund, mention some of the problems that cant be fixed, but would not normally bother you like the speedo ajustment from km to miles merc says you can change it in the manual, but it does not work on the car.
if the problem comes back demand a refund, If they cant fix the car after 3 attempts thay have no choice but to give you a full refund.
I have a letter i can email you if u want, it got me a full refund on my ml
