We ordered in September an ML 320 cdi. Our dealer told us today that our car (production December) has got a production number so that we cannot change anything about the car. Has anyone got an idea how we can add something to our car??
There is a cut off date however I am not certain as to the timing of it. I was allowed to make a change 8 weeks out from production date. Only way around it is to order another ML with a later production date and let the dealer try to put someone else into your original number.

I remember an article in January one of the Mercedes Benz crew said it will be possible to change the configuration until 6 days before production!!!!

This was a Press release by MB published also in benzworld.com. When I tried to change my configs I also mentioned this statement, in fact I printed it out and took it to my Dealer. He looked at it as if it were Einstein's relativity theory. Did I achieve something: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I ordered mine in August. Delivery is expected in June 2006 - 45 weeks of waiting ... still 33 to go.
I called my dealer one week ago about some possible changes that I wanted to make.
They said that i could make some changes in december without any problem.
I don't think you could make any changes until 6 days before productions. Order of parts (wheels, seats) are made several months in advance.
