I was just browsing the Yahoo Autos section and reading Customer Reviews on 06 ML, and boy everyone is complaining about transmission and electrical problems. Does not look good in terms of long term reliability.
transmision is very rough shifting a low speeds it also whins like an old truck at low speeds they replaced the tranny at 4000 miles because it would not stay in gear new one no better

Around 2 months before i got my car title, my car started to have horrid sounds so i went to a dealer to see what the problem was. he told me that he couldn't find the problem so i just kept on driving. But, a week before i got my title, the transmission failed and my car stopped moving. So i got my car towed to the same dealer and he told me that to fix the car, it would cost me about $4,000. and this is the same thing that happened to my friend also. but she fixed it but the transmission failed on her AGAIN and her engine failed too. so i bought a car from a different company and now i am recommending everyone not to waste their money on your company.
Just had a new transmission installed and the jerky shift seems to be fixed. I just hope it lasts. I would trade the car but just dont want to lose thousands of dollars. Overall, a very disappointing experience especially when it is obvious at the dealer that there are serious problems with the new 7 speed tranny.
After comparing the lexus GX 470, BMW X5, and the Mercedes ML 350, I bought the Mercedes mostly for the looks. My first impression after the test drive was confusion. It has an electronic shift lever on the right side of the steering wheel where one has to push the lever to go in and out of the park mode. In order to use the turn signal, one must reach for the lower lever on the left side of the steering wheel. If you overshoot and reach the upper lever, you will instead be setting the cruise control.
The ride itself is comfortable except when changing speed. Transmission seems rather rough although it is a 7 speed automatic.
My Highlander has a much smoother engine, I must say.
The car salesman left us the owner's manual in the front passenger seat and I now understand why. We the CD changer in the glove compartment, the manual will not fit.
The navigation system is very complicated to use and the salesperson didn't really go into details about using it. I think he himself didn't fully understand it.
Enough for now, this is too depressing. If the new tranmission is really a problem, MB should issue recall and fix the problem or replace it. But, I do not see that happening either.
now i am worried! i just signed an order today for over $100,000 AUD for one of these cars. I own a LExus RX300 and have bought the ML350 for my wife. but maybe the positive people are right - i hope so!!!
