Alert: Check Engine Oil Level

Today morning I got an alert for Check Engine oil. I am just wondering why this came because 4 weeks back only I did my 1000 - 3000 mile service. Appreciate your inputs.

RE: Alert: Check Engine Oil Level

Oil is not checked then. It is not a "Service", but a simple diagnostics check. That's why they call it only "First Visit."

So, did you check the oil with the dipstick?

RE: Alert: Check Engine Oil Level

Did you follow the break-in suggestions for the first 500 miles? I am assuming the break-in for MB's new 350 motor would be the same as for MB's pervious 3-valve/twin spark engine, having more to do with a proper run-in of the rings and the silica impregnated cylinder sleeves than with the valve train.

I did check it. It is between midlle of Min and Max on the dipstick. May be that is the reason it came.

That warning should not come on unless you are very low (at least bottom of dipstick markers).

The warning comes on after 2 quarts are missing.
