Visited my dealer yesterday. Asked about the status of the ML500 I have on order. They checked the MB status report and found the this ML which was originally scheduled for Aug 24th del, then pushed back to Sept 9 build is now scheduled to be built on Oct 6th. They claim that that they have been unable to get any answers from MB and that it seems that only the heavilly optioned ML500's are being delayed. They have received some ML 500's and many ML350's and they are all late with sporatic deliveries but the heavilly optioned ML500's seem to be getting the worst of the problem with the longest delays.
Anyone else have this situation??
When I decided to get the R500 instead of the R350, my dealer tried to get a September build date. When he did a search and found similar specs to mine for September builds he attempted to make changes on NetStar and was unable to for any September cars. He was told that all September builds were "Factory Forced Orders" and could not be changed at all. He was then successful in getting me a 1st Decade October build.
Whether this is related to the ML customer order delays I don't know. But it sounds like MB is supplying dealers with inventory to support the launch of the R Class and maybe want to have ML's on hand as well to "shift" customers if needed??? I guess it could be related to a shotage of V8 engines also???

I ordered mine on May 1 and got it on August 8. It is fully loaded, comfort, lighting, entertainment, air suspension, sunroof, premium, 3-zone climate, parktronic, rear side airbags, Sirius, hands-free phone, navigation, ipod, wheel locks, mud flaps, wire mesh divider, even blue illuminated door sills. Yeah, I know, frivolous, but they give me a grin every time I open my door! [:I]
I ordered the spoiler, too, but for some reason the dealer didn't install it and I told them to forget it, because I was not going to have my car trapped in there for 4 more days!
If that isn't heavily optioned, I don't know what is-- I have no idea what the criteria are for delivery, but I would vote against the options being the problem.
Sorry you have to wait, I know the agony, I'd go to the dealer lot just to get a glimpse of one and get my ML fix![:D]

Mine is a similar spec to yours. I actually ordered around 15 may as I wanted to see the color choices in the brochure. It seems to me that the dealer inventory cars are coming in spurts and they too are late but not as late as the heavy spec ones.Could be a vendor problem. No one seems to know. Dealer offered me an inventory car to use and I declined as my current ML500 is just fine. I do know that I am not the only one effected by this.
I wonder why dealers are having no problems getting their non customer specified cars in, but customer ordered cars are being delayed?
I hate to say it, but I think someone at the dealership is toying with you. Either that or their suppliers are flaking out on them.
Believe me no one is toying with me. My relationship with the dealer is excellent. Why on earth would you even think that as it does them no good and they will earn no money till the car is delivered. I personally think its a vendor problem at the factory with one of the many vendors.

It may be that they want to have you wait until the new R's are there or they want to sell you something on the lot. You can go to many places and order a ML500. My buddy just ordered a new 911 from a broker online and he even went to the dealer where they said they could not get it, and picked it up. Talk about slap in the face to the dealer.
As far as your relationship with your MB dealer, I would have to say that any dealer would bend you over. They would screw their own mother, much less if your not family member. Sorry for being so blunt, but think about your options. You have many, a simple google search is just a click away.
The dealer near my house told me I cannot get my car and it would not be built until late Sept, and that there were no ML's of my specs anyplace. My wife and I drove 45 min up the road to another MB dealer and I walked in with a bank check and told him this is what I wanted peroid. They called me 1 hr later and found the car at MB NY and would have it there within 3 days. So there are plenty of the cars, but dealers are in business to win. You show that you are in the Phil. area. There are plenty of places, your only a stons throw from MB of NYC.
Let us know how it works out.
My dealer went to an inventory car they had on order (not yet built) & changed the options to my preference. They said this would put me ahead in line. We'll see!

Good point, now maybe others will get the hint to not let dealers run our life. They work for us, and people tend to forget. We are all spending a large sum of green with them, so let them work. If they do not work, move on; fire them as you would anyone else who works for you.
