I just got a new ML350 2006 2 weeks ago, I have driven 800 miles or so, I am facing couple issues, please provide your feedback:
1. Gear Change noises:
Whenever I change gear from Park to Reverse or Drive, it makes some strange noices, like hydraulic lever "whoooosh" kindaa noise. Hope I am able to explain it properly. I do not hear this all the time, but out of 5 times, but it will make this kfor 2-3 times. Is this normal, am I doing something wrong...Do I need to get it checked with service technician?
2. Entertainment Package - MP3 CDs:
CD Changer that is installed as part of Entertainment Package is capable to read/play MP3 CDs. But the problem is Command System or MCS or whatever, is only able to read/recognize first 99 songs. Generally MP3 CDs will have 300-400 songs , this is very annoying and a big problem. Hope, I am not the only one experiencing this ...
I have the same issues, so we are not alone. I had the ML for 4 weeks and I have the same problems as you described plus one.
3. The transmission jerks when you slow down or speed up going from 1st gear to the second. 15 MPH/1400RPM
I was wondering if you have the same problem.
I have the same problem when drive at a very slow speed at stop and go around 0 to 10 mph like not give enough gas and when slow down from 10 to zero mph like engine brake pull back by itself, same issues. I had the ML for 2 months.
Not sure if the problems related to transmission or the software when you slow down or speed up.
Other the minor thing, faster 10-65(and up)MPH speed very smooth(too smooth)and everything else is 10 (best).
My ML350 does the same thing!! When the car is about to come to a complete stop (within 5-15 mph...i.e., stop sign or light), it jerks. I spoke to the service adviser and he said because the car is a 7-speed, it's just downshifting. (?????) I don't know if this is true or not, but I will bring the car in next week and let you guys know what the technician thinks.
My ML350 is almost 1 month old w/ 2500 miles on it.

... he said because the car is a 7-speed, it's just downshifting. (?????)
Oh it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a 7-speed. It is simply downshifting to provide some engine braking. I am rather surprised to hear about this though, since I did not experience it in my drives. The downshifting bump has been an issue of the 5-speed transmissions in the past.

I sympathize with everyone with the new 2006 ml350 who has the transmission problem. I have 1700 miles on my ML350 and im experiencing a transmission problem. Theres a few magazine review that states that on lower speeds the transmission is very jerky. I can verify that complaint. Im not being picky but this problem is annoyin enuff that im unhappy with the vechicle. Also, when making a complete stop it jerks or shifts to a lower gear? i took it to delearship and they cleared the adaptation codes. However, the problem still persists. It did improve a lot but it occasionally happens atleast once or twice each time i drive it.7 speed automatic is the reason theyre giving me? NO WAY JOSE! I will not accept that. Hi Tech should make things better not worse. I do believe in my personal opinion that it is a software problem because it doesnt happen all the time. Please complain to your delearship so mercedes benz can come up with a software fix that would address our issue. I drove several ML's in our lot and they all have the same annoying characteristic. Keep me posted please.
i agree with you that after you spend this much money on a car it shouldn't jerk like a kia. i researched and it jerks because it downshifts 3 gears at once.

does anyone else have this issue where it has been fixed by a dealer. we gotta get this mb engineers to get the flash out for the software on the transmission. its very jerky on low speeds plus sometimes when ur about to complete a stop it would jerk. it drives me nuts.
The CD player in the Entertainment system can only play the first 99 tracks on your CDs, as this is the industry standard. You can only have 99 tracks on an audio CD. Your computer may recognize more, but that's because it's treating your CD as a data CD.
This behavior is by design and cannot be changed. I suggest you re-sample your music to a higher bitrate, so that you can fill up more of your CD with the 99 tracks.
Even at 99 tracks, that would mean you have 693 songs to choose from, which imho is good enough [;)] If you add an iPod to that, you should be covered.
Has anyone experienced 'skipping' while using the CD changer? We've put brand new CDs in there and have had issues with periods of looooong silence as it seems to be trying to recover from a bounce in the road. The in-dash player seems to be better with less skipping but, we've still noticed it there with some other CDs (i.e. Not brand new but, not scratched).
