RE: Build your own on MBUSA web site

It doesn't seem thoroughly worked out yet. It won't let you order Alcantara with the AMG package, you have to also get the Premium package (for $$11k total). It WILL let you order optional 19" wheels with the AMG package, even though it already comes with some. Very confusing.

Yes.

I saw one being tested on Spanish television. The bit was roughly three minutes. Although I couldn't understand a thing that they were saying, I'll have to bite my tounge and say the new Benz looks pretty nice - I'm really looking forward to seeing the new G.

Mercedes Benz's PR person should be slapped in the face once and then twice over. The press release shots show the vehicle at its worst (bad color, bad camera angles and bad lighting).

No wonder I wasn't sold.

RE: Yes.

I agree that the PR photos are the worst from MB of late. I've seen much better in the past.

The Desert Silver and Macadamia is not the best looking color to me. More silver, black with ash or black interior shots would have been better.

RE: PR photos

The one on their microsite is pretty cool:

That's the one that sold me! I have a sneaky suspicion that the pic is only an artist rendering. However, I think it would be very nice to actually have that two tone color as an option.

Also on the microsite, two colors (red and alpine mist (blue)) are shown in the pics but not on the build your own. What's going on???

That image, I believe, is a silver vehicle with very dramatic lighting and some P-shop. It does highlight the lines nicely.

Alpine Mist and Barolo Red are listed as "delayed." How much I don't know.
