What is the ML K&N filter part # from K&N

I'm sick of seeing the K&N on ebay $$ - sureley I must be able to go to my local K&N dealer and give them the part number and get the approriate filter.

Is the filter special or simular to the ford explorer etc. filter?

Does anyone know the part number for the ML K&N filter?

Most parts stores will

have the part number in their system. However, the filter may (and did to me) pass too much oil through tot he Mass Air Sensor and ruin it. That's a $300 part alone. Proceed with caution, or try www.greenfilters.com. A little more cash, but no oil impregnation and higher air flow.

Thanks Scott saved my bacon there, don't want any more "in shop" time than necessary - Especially caused by my fault for messing up the MAS.

Looking at the Green USA site now!

well I hate to admit it

but the forum "told me so" before I installed one. I removed it soon after the check engine light came on, replaced it with a fram (for now) and took it to the dealer. Starmark covered the sensor replacement, so I didn't get hurt. But others may if the Sa suggests a surface test on the coils of the MAF sensor prior to approving the warranty repair.

K&N

Have been using the #33-2703 for 3000+ miles,in two different ML430's, no problem. If you use one, FACTORY OIL ONLY, dont add any extra, use K&N cleaner, let it dry, then oil, let it DRY, per directions. will not pass oil to the MAF.

try to tell that to

your SA or MBUSA if the MAF goes bad and they catch you with a K&N. BUT, I am running a V6 vs a V8, which may suck air harder they way some of us drive.

Okay from what I can understand - You are saying that the stock filter as is comes is oiled (factory) and used as is will not mess up the MAS.

Then when I do clean it and re-oil it oil as directed.

Sounds like a bit of a gamble... however in your experience is the increase in HP worth it?

The factory filter is not oiled. When it gets to a certain mileage, you simply replace it with a new one. The re-oiling of the K&N is what causes the MAF sensor to malfunction, as the oil can damage the sensor.

There is barely any perceptible increase in power. Not only that but the K&N lets in larger dirt particles.

Amazing how people think such a small thing can increase HP noticeably

Don't ask for people's opinion, ask for dyno data.
Asking for opinions will get you a bunch of unreliable funky answers on which to base a decision that can adversely affect your engine
Asking for numbers will prove you that you would have a better use for your cash (say, rocky road ice cream)
