Peeling Paint??

Hey Guys,
I was looking at the front bumper of my ML the other day and noticed that on the passenger side that the paint is beginning to peel. One section is about 1. to 2 inches long and next to it there are small bubbles, two of them about the area of your thumbprint. I caled the dealer and they want to inspect it before they send it to a shop fo repair. My car is under warrenty. I wash it weekly too. Is there any reason why i wouldnt be covered??

John

I have never heard of MB having a paint peeling problem. They are usually very particular about their paint process. I'd love to hear what MB says about it.

Thanks,

Andy

Mine wasn't covered. I think we had a discussion about this last year but the old threads don't seem to be accessible. Basically mine bubbled up and eventually came off. Apparently a bunch of others had this experience as well.

Maybe someone will want to recant what was discussed there and it can be of some help to you?

I took it into the dealer on Thursday morning and they inspected it. They said that they couldnt fix it at their shop but would pay for the cost to fix it. So I have to go get some estimates done on it first then fax the paperwork to the dealer and they are going to cut them a check. Only stipulation: wont pay for it over $400. I am thinking its gonna cost more. So we'll see....

Dealer won't pay over $400? That's bullshit, you should sue them if it costs you more. GM got sued for peeling paint and they lost. Mercedes should pay for this whether or not the owner took good care of the paint, though you did. I'll be on the lookout for this on my 2000 ML320, looks like yours is the same color as mine (Black). Mine is washed every weekend also and the paint is buffed/polished/waxed about every 2 or 3 months, by hand personally.
