| New Wheels and Tires... I replaced my Pirelli Scorpions this week with Dunlop Grandtreks. (I sold them with the OEM wheels).

Initial impressions: 1) the Dunlops are MUCH quieter, 2) the Dunlops ride better, 3) the Pirellis handled better with much quicker turn-in and somewhat better braking performance at the expense of ride comfort, and 4) the Pirellis look more awesome with that low profile sidewall and sexy tread design.
All said, I think I prefer the compromise of the Dunlops over the Pirellis. (I do, however, want another set of P6000s for my S4.) I ran the Pirellis at 32/32 psi and they were pretty finicky with that, but the Dunlops seem to just ride and handle better the higher I take the pressure - I like 36/36 so far and I'm very impressed with the overall ride/performance compromise.
By the way, I replaced my OEM wheels with a set of AMG 5-spoke knockoffs (Cieffe, I believe, from Discount Tire Direct). I really like the look of them on my ML430...they sport it up quite a bit. I wasn't ready to drop major bucks on this upgrade (at least not yet, anyway), so I'm pretty happy with it all. They are a very nice looking, good quality wheel. The offset pulls them out of the fenderwell about an additional 0.5' inch, which makes me think the next mod should be ML55 fender flares. I hope to get some pics soon.
