l had all 4 of my shocks replaced under warranty today....l have a 99 ML 430, and they replaced them with the latest ones(the new valving helps, quite a bit)...What a freakin difference!!!!l went over some train tracks and just one quick thud..that's it....Can you believe it....Shocks under warranty for 120,000 KM's..incredible..Go figure...some items...such as trim falling off, they give me a hard time, but shocks...no problem Mr. Rodrigues.....Oh well...here's to a smooth ride...almost feels like a uni-body......

they rocked my ML side to side on all corners and if it bounch 3-4 times after rocking, your shocks should need replacement and if your shock have a sign of leakage, but on mine I don't, it 's just bouncing too much. I took the Head Foremen with me and let him drive and he felt the excessive rocking,, ruled out they need to repplace the whole thing..shocks and spring[:)][;)]
I also have a MY1999 with a bit of a rough ride. You must be past the 4 year mark for the warranty, right? What's the story with the 100,000 mile warranty on the shocks?

My dealer says they would only change the shocks if they are leaking.. The shocks were great when I first bought my ML and after 10,000 miles, they were bouncing all over.. I almost tend to think that they swap mine with some old ones, since they begin to act like that after a service problem visit which they took many days for something that should have taken an hour to two hours max... Although, that may be just my paranoia... [:)]

120,000 KM's not miles.....Your basic warranty is 4 year 80,000 KM, but your powertain warranty is up to 120,000 KM...that is what my SA told me....My ML was basically bottoming out over Train tracks....so they replaced them..no questions asked..
