HVAC Flush and Cabin Filter, a follow up

In a message, Drew mentioned that cabin filters where difficult to obtain in the US right now. He also talked about filters available in Canada that have a doubled amount of pleats and I wish I had purchased one like that!

If anyone is looking for regular ML MB cabin air filters in the DFW area, Ewing Autohaus in Plano has some. I had the cabin filter changed on the ML this week.

Completely oblivious to the HVAC thread, I had asked the dealer to change the filter to remedy the musty smell that came out of the vent. By now, you all know what it is caused from, bacteria. For a while I thought that one of you had spotted my car and urinated in the vents on the hood for retribution purposes.

If the flush available through the BW store is not sufficient to kill the wet sock smell in your truck or car, the dealer can actually do a flush at a different level (or so I was told) to clean up the condenser, which is where a lot of moisture will develop.

On my wife ML, they did a deodorant flush and a clean up using some kind of foam.

There were no part numbers for the foam mentionned in the job description (nor is it available for sale from the dealer!), but there was one for the spray and for the filter.

If anyone has any interest, I can copy the text of the work performed, although in 99% of the cases I assume that the spray available through Drew will cure your problem. My dealer is courteous and zealous and went the extra mile.

That job was charged 1.8 labor units (hours).

I hear several people laugh, but remember, I not just mentally challenged, I also am physically challenged and can't engage in the DIYs you guys publish and that I enjoy reading.

I regained my Faith when I was able to undertake byweekly disassembly of the wheels to clean them, the brakes and the wells. Faith in SEARS (thanks LOCHS2) that is!

Evaporator actually [:D], also WURTH makes a product for this, this is the stuff I use, their product line is great, although a bit pricey. Therea several vendors of the stuff, this is just one quick find I got on the net.
