dvd navi?

I have a 2000 ML 430 with the MCS CD Navigation and cd changer..I would like to put in the DVD navigation.
Can I just remove the cd navi unit and replace it with the dvd unit? I don't need extra parts such as antenna, spitter,,,etc........since I already have a navigation in the car????? do I still need to bring it back to the dealer to reprogram? Please help.. I travel long distance very often..and the cd navi sucks...

Just take out the MCS...........

unscrew the top plate cover and disconnect the wires and replace with the DVD drive. You don't have to do anything else. Have your radio code handy and make sure it's turned off or better yet, no power. Reinstall and insert DVD Map and youe set to go. Sell your CD Drive and Maps on Ebay.

Hello and welcome to the forum
You can just remove the CD NAV and install the DVD NAV. You won't need any extra parts just the DVD NAV and Disc. You don't need to have you ML MCS Version coded from MB since it is a MY 2000.

Are they available for purchase on the web?

I am looking at swapping the CD drive for the DVD drive. I have no idea what the parts number are, I doubt that the DVD disk would be sold with the drive, we have the CD NAV standard so I don't need the NAV, just the drive and the software.

BTW, is there a software update when you upgrade from CD to DVD NAV?
