Key won't turn and ML won't start . . . - Benzworld.org

Guys - went out this morning to run an errand and put the key in my 2002 ML 320 and the key won't turn - maybe it moves 1/8" or so, but not nearly like usual and not enough to start. I thought maybe the wheels were turned and this locked it out, but no, wheels are straight.

Getting ready to call MB, but thought if you have any ideas . . .

That happened to me 1 day about 6 months ago. I jigeled the shifter a little, turned the wheel a little and used some more presure when I turned the key. It worked and I never had the problem again.

I've had it happen twice with me. Both times involved jiggling the key and tweeking the steering wheel, before the key would finally engage. I don't know what causes it, but I sure don't like it.

I jiggled the shifter while turning the steering wheel until it locked and then it started fine.

yah i think its the gear maybe it's on D or something. It should be on P when the engines is turn off
